Today, after almost ten years, I went to watch a movie. It
was Friday, a day off, and the streets were relatively empty. Taking Aafiq (my
son) and Tushnim (my only daughter), I reached the cinema early in the morning.
At Star Cineplex, our movie time was set for 7:30 in the morning, and the
movie's name was "Mujib, The Making of a Nation."
For Aafiq, this day, the 10th of November, 2023, would remain memorable because it was the first time he had experienced going to the cinema. He had only heard stories of watching movies in Barisal/Rajshahi until now. However, I never told him the story of watching two movies with just one ticket!
Nevertheless, as time for the movie approached, we started
watching with great enthusiasm, munching on popcorn. We witnessed the inspiring
story of a determined youth from Tungipara who emerged as the architect of
independent Bangladesh.
The film portrayed how much sacrifice one person could make for the country, leaving a profound image of selflessness. Many could not hold back their emotions while witnessing the love and dedication Sheikh Mujib had for the land and its people. Tushnim wiped her tears repeatedly.
Today, I understood very well why my father, whenever he
heard Mujib's speeches throughout his life, would be moved to tears. Sheikh
Mujib worked tirelessly for the country and its people throughout his life,
accepting limitless sacrifices. Indeed, there is no leader like him in the
history of Bengal.
Fazilatunnesa Mujib's portrayal by Tisha in the movie was
very impressive. In the final scene, looking at the epitaph on the grave of the
Father of the Nation in Tungipara, Aafiq said, "Dad, the movie is
over."

Leaving the theater, it felt as if the echoes of 'This
time's struggle is the struggle for freedom' were ringing in my ears. This
time's struggle was the struggle for independence.
